Explore the fascinating world of fungi with mycologist Dr Christian Taylor and Emma from Dartmoor’s Daughter. You will already have a good working knowledge of fungi and be interested to delve more deeply into an advanced level of learning in a laboratory type setting. Session will include:

Advanced Level (Field Laboratory):

A short preliminary foray within walking distance of the indoor space

Fungal culturing from wild – practical skills

Cultivation of medicinal and culinary mycelia in sterilised substrates – pratical skills

Innoculation of mycelial spawn – practical skills

Cooking wild edible fungi – practical skills

Tasting of edibles cooked, drinking immunitea

While waiting for autoclaved media / substragte to cool ( at lunch), there will be a “Voyage into the mycelium” slide show and talk

Fungal biodiversity survey techniques – theory

Sub culturing to avoid contamination – practical skills

Keeping conditions humid – practical skills

Stressing myclia to force fruiting – practical skills

Making medicinal extracts of medicinal fruiting bodies in alcohol and water – practical skills
