Whiddon Autumn Festival 2023

Join us 13-17 September 2023 for the Whiddon Autumn Festival, one of Devon’s freshest and most exciting cultural events.

Set in and around the picturesque Whiddon Parishes of north Dartmoor, WAF 2023 sees a vibrant programme of 13 events packed into five days of music-making across five villages, including choral performances, chamber music, art song, jazz, participation opportunities, events for children, and more..!

Ensemble-in-Residence the Corvus Consort and WAF’s very own Festival String Quartet are joined by a dazzling line-up of young artists, all curated by local-born Festival Director
Freddie Crowley.

Prize-winning harpist Louise Thomson is our special guest artist, while young star pianist Harry Baker returns to WAF for the third year running. Beloved local duo Music on the Edge features in our opening concert, and the Festival Jazz Night

headliner is vocalist and songwriter Hohnen Ford, fresh from her sold-out show at the London Jazz Festival.

WAF’s 2023 Composer-in-Residence is award-winning composer Nathan James Dearden, who will have three brand new works premiered during the Festival. There are also exciting opportunities for members of the local community to meet Nathan and take part in a collaborative and interactive music creation workshop.

At each evening concert, there will be a pre-concert talk with the Festival Director and artist in each concert. This is an opportunity to have some light shed on the music you’re about to hear in an informal setting.

WAF is committed to inclusion and accessibility of our events, subsidising all our ticket prices, and providing several free and “pay-what-you-feel” events. We offer free entry for U25s at all our principal concerts, £5 tickets for those aged 26-35, and discounts to those claiming Universal Credit or equivalent benefits.
