We recently spent the most magical day at Pennywell Farm in Devon to celebrate our daughter’s third birthday—and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
As a family of four, with a lively 3-year-old and a 9-month-old in tow, finding days out that keep everyone happy can be a challenge. But Pennywell Farm absolutely delivered! From the moment we arrived, the sun was shining, the staff were warm and welcoming, and the sense of fun and adventure was in the air.
One of the sweetest touches was that our daughter was given a birthday rosette to wear, and her name proudly appeared on the Birthday Board. She was beaming with pride, and it made her feel so special all day long.
We started our visit with a ride on the miniature train, which was a big hit with both kids and adults alike. Then came the animals—oh, the animals! We spent time cuddling tiny piglets, stroking fluffy rabbits, and even meeting some very cute mice. The goats were especially popular with our daughter, and the absolute highlight of her day was bottle-feeding them—she couldn’t stop talking about it!
There were play areas dotted throughout the farm, all really well suited to different ages. Our toddler had the best time climbing, sliding, and zooming around on the ride-on tractors. Even our 9 month old enjoyed watching the excitement unfold around him.
Of course, no sunny day out would be complete without ice cream! We took a break to enjoy a delicious treat, which was the perfect way to cool off before diving back into more farmyard fun.
Pennywell Farm is a rare gem that offers something for every age and interest. It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and lovely memories—and we’re already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for a wholesome, interactive family day out in Devon, we can’t recommend it enough.
