A Day Out at Ullacombe Farm, Dartmoor

Last week, we took a trip to Ullacombe Farm on Dartmoor in tow were two three-year-olds and our 11-month-old, and it was the perfect outing.

We started with lunch in the farm café, which prides itself on making everything fresh from local produce. The children were absolutely delighted with their Little Farmers’ Afternoon Tea — beautifully presented in a miniature hen house. It was almost too cute to eat! The portions were just right for little ones, and it felt like such a thoughtful touch that made the meal extra special.

After lunch, the fun really began. The children had a fantastic time exploring the play equipment, riding the tractors, and playing in the barn. There was plenty of space for them to run around and burn off energy while we enjoyed watching them play.

Of course, no trip to the farm would be complete without meeting the animals. We visited the chickens, ducks, and cows, and the cheeky goats, who were up to their usual mischief and quickly became the stars of the afternoon. The little ones loved getting up close to the animals, and it was a great chance to teach them a bit about farm life.

Overall, Ullacombe Farm offered the perfect mix of good food, safe play spaces, and farmyard fun. It’s an easy, family-friendly day out that keeps both children and adults happy — we’ll definitely be back!
