Cider House is a luxury bed and breakfast in Devon set in the heart of the National Trust 700 acre Buckland Abbey Estate and the Tamar Valley Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which offers stunning surroundings, and a 5 star experience with the truly personal touch of a family run luxury bed and breakfast.
We believe Cider House to be one of a kind, being the only National Trust accommodation to offer luxury bed and breakfast at the heart of an historic property site. Nestled in a peaceful secluded valley steeped in history and charm, we offer home grown and reared breakfasts, open log fires and beautiful individually styled bedrooms. Our priority is that our guests feel relaxed and spoilt from the moment they arrive.
Cider House has its own fabulous gardens previously open through the National Garden Scheme and now managed by the National Trust. In addition, guests are able to enjoy the beautifully kept gardens of the 13th century Buckland Abbey; the former home to Sir Francis Drake. These include the Elizabethan Gardens, magnificent Great Barn – one of the largest medieval barns in the country and the productive Kitchen Garden – where our spoilt free range, rare breed chickens roam. The estate and woodlands offer a range of walks from the doorstep and a haven for wildlife including deer, owls, badgers and otters along the river valley.
Situated on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and yet within easy access of the bustling market town of Tavistock and the city of Plymouth, the location offers a wide range of options for days out. We’ve listed a few of the wonderful places to visit on our Out and About page. It truly is one of the most memorable places to stay in Devon.
Take the time to look at each of our beautiful boutique b&b rooms each featuring their availability and indulge yourself – we look forward to welcoming you.
