Cider House has its own fabulous gardens previously open through the National Garden Scheme and now managed by the National Trust. In addition, guests are able to explore, with complementary visitor passes, including a discount for the National Trust Gift and Plant shop; the beautifully kept gardens of the 13th century Buckland Abbey; the former home to Sir Francis Drake. These include the Elizabethan Gardens, magnificent Great Barn – one of the largest medieval barns in the country and the productive Kitchen Garden. The estate and woodlands offer a range of walks from the doorstep and a haven for wildlife including deer, owls, badgers and otters along the river valley.
