“ I have never before, in my long and eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty as I experienced filming War Horse on Dartmoor.” Steven Spielberg.

Walking and driving tours

About

Personalised walking and driving tours of Dartmoor, South Devon, Brixham and beyond.

Join me on a journey of exploration, discovery and fun with a DEVON&MOOR personalised guided tour. During a full or half day excursion we’ll visit hidden gems, stunning landscapes and charming habitats. Be captivated with local knowledge, fascinating facts and breathtaking views, I’m blessed to live in Devon, one of the most beautiful, varied, intriguing counties in the country and look forward to sharing some of my favourite bits.

“Dartmoor Unearthed” (full day driving tour) in our iconic Land Rover 4 x 4. Uncover the unique diversity and beauty of Dartmoor with its windswept moors, ancient settlements and towering granite tors. Stretch your legs and take the opportunity to mingle amongst moorland ponies and hardy highland cattle, experience ancient woods and deserted quarries, be in touching distance of the infamous Dartmoor prison, revel in the myths and legends of this baron but captivating land. Dartmoor encompasses 368 sq miles, so we may not be able to navigate all this vastness in one day, but we will give you lasting memories and an appetite to return to this atmospheric corner of England.

Other “full day tours” include options to experience the stunning “South Devon coast” with its rocky headlands, historic lighthouses and expansive sandy beaches. For the historians the “Devon at war” tour enables you to learn about the tragic Operation Tiger, the huge logistical challenges that faced the Allied command and visit some of the best preserved coastal fortifications in the country.

Tours take place throughout the year as this amazing coastline and rugged windswept moors are a rich everchanging tapestry worth exploring whatever the weather or season. Collection and drop off will be from your accommodation.

Alternatively, a (½ day walking) tour of Brixham, home of the world famous Brixham Fish Market may appeal. From fishermen to kings and queens, from beam trawling to red oxide paint, Brixhams’ influence and contribution to the world around us is both diverse and truly remarkable. Steeped in history, Brixham has suffered numerous tragedies but the spirit and vision of this coastal community has ensured many an achievement have been celebrated. Both of the Brixham tours hug the coastline, you are guaranteed some breathtaking views, so please join me on one of our absorbing tours.
