Discovering The Arundell Arms: A Hidden Gem in Lifton

Tucked away in the charming village of Lifton, The Arundell Arms is a true hidden gem with so much to offer!

Whether you’re looking to hire a meeting room for a conference or organise a private event, the hotel has a range of flexible spaces to suit your needs including a fully restored cockpit. Plus, with a large car park and electric vehicle charging points, it couldn’t be more convenient.

Just passing through? No problem! Located just five minutes from the A30, it makes the perfect pit stop. Pop into their on-site deli for a freshly brewed coffee, a grab-and-go sandwich or salad pot, or indulge in one of their delicious homemade cakes. Their carefully curated wine selection is also well worth browsing — ideal for gifts or a well-deserved Friday night treat!

The Arundell also boasts a welcoming bar area serving drinks and meals to both residents and non-residents. Be sure to try a pint of their very own “Arundell Cider” — best enjoyed while soaking up the sunshine in their beautiful garden or relaxing beside the roaring fireside.

Our Stay: A Much-Needed Escape

We spent the weekend at The Arundell, and it was the perfect escape from our busy lives. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff made us feel truly welcome, going above and beyond to help. Our room was bright, spacious and spotlessly clean, with all the amenities you could need — the coffee machine was a particularly lovely touch!

The hotel offers a brilliant range of activity packages, from fishing and shooting to wellness treatments and gift shopping — there really is something for everyone.

I opted for a hot stone massage at the Wellness Lodge with therapist Kirstie Bridgewater. She was warm, professional and incredibly attentive to what I needed. Her knowledge and expertise shone through, and I can’t recommend her highly enough.

Afterwards, we took a stroll through Lifton and came across the hotels private fishing lake — a breathtakingly tranquil spot where you can truly switch off. With 22 miles of river beats and even an on-site fishing shop, anglers are spoiled for choice.

All the food at The Arundell is locally sourced, and it shows. Dinner in their 2 AA Rosette restaurant was an absolute delight, with a perfectly designed menu full of flavour.

We rounded off the evening with a cosy nightcap by the log fire in the lounge — the perfect ending to a wonderful day.

Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive: a lovely continental spread of granola, yoghurt, fresh fruit and pastries, followed by cooked options. I went for the avocado and poached eggs, though the pancakes and full cooked breakfast looked equally tempting!

I genuinely cannot fault our stay at The Arundell. From the exceptional staff and outstanding food to the relaxing activities and beautiful surroundings — everything was first class.

If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, a place to host an event, or simply a great spot for coffee or lunch — make sure you pay The Arundell a visit. You won’t be disappointed!
