East Dart Inn has been part of the community in Postbirdge since 1862 on Duchy Land, when John Webb built the coaching inn. Over the years it has gone through many changes and was a Temperance Bar until the 1950s. More recently it has been fully renovated and loving restored to reflect its history with modern conveniences.
There is a full menu available from light bites, cream teas, pub classics like fish and chips and burgers, as well as a specials board. Sunday roasts are served from 12 noon to 6pm, for which booking is advisable.
The bar has a warm and welcoming atmosphere retaining many of its original features including the settles and the hunting frieze that adorns the walls.
A roaring log firewill always be ablaze on a chilly day or a winters night.
We are dog friendly and have treats at the bar for them. All 8 bedrooms have been thoughtfully decorated and finished giving a taste of luxury. All rooms are en suite and some are dog friendly. To the rear there is an old walled garden which used to house the original stabling for the carriage horses. The garden always retains the sun making it a lovely place to sit and rest for a while, whilst enjoying a cold drink or two, or of course one of our Devon cream teas. There is a larger and more open garden to the side which offers pub-bench Seating.
