A trio of family-friendly trails in the grounds of a five-star Dartmoor resort have been opened for family days out in the Easter holidays.
Bovey Castle has launched its Easter trail that challenges visitors to solve 11 seasonal riddles across its outdoor estate, which sits in 275 acres of countryside in Dartmoor National Park.
The British pastime of Letterboxing – which was formed in Dartmoor more than 150 years ago where walkers try to identify a package using clues and maps – is also available in the form of a trail at Bovey Castle.
The Brass Rubbing trail, meanwhile, takes walkers on another clue-led adventure to collect brass rubbings, while coming across other on-site activities such as archery, croquet and off-road driving.
The three trails are available to all overnight hotel guests, and those who are dining over the school Easter holidays in the hotel’s award-winning restaurants the Great Western Grill and Smith’s Brasserie.
Dean Gunston, General Manager at Bovey Castle, said: “Embarking on a trail around our picturesque estate is an egg-cellent way of rounding off a meal in one of our award-winning restaurants.
“Our grounds boast an array of instagrammable vantage points to take memorable family photos, and these latest trails give both our hotel and dining guests the chance to really immerse themselves in our resort.
“Meeting and feeding our on-site chickens breakfast is always a popular activity for the youngsters too at this time of year, as is meeting our ferrets – including Suki, the world’s oldest ferret, who is still going strong at 15.”
