Visit Dartmoor runs a very popular group on Facebook called ‘We Love Dartmoor!’ which currently (July 2020) has over 8110 members, all of whom absolutely LOVE Dartmoor.
We started the group as a way to collect fabulous images and videos of Dartmoor that we could use on our social media channels and our website, but it’s developed into far more than that! Yes, we have amazing photographs and videos, but the group has developed a tangible community feel to it, with a lovely atmosphere.
Every day we see not just superb photos, but the group also lets those who are not here keep up with the changing seasons on Dartmoor. The ponies on the moor are an ever popular topic, especially now with the foals being born, it’s a joy to see so many new babies that we’d not otherwise spot, and we even have some farmers who own them in the group.
Group members are exceptionally friendly and helpful, when a question is posted on anything from where to see the highland cattle, to where to walk with a pushchair there’s always a rapid and eager response. We have highly knowledgeable Dartmoor walking guides among our members who are very generous with their expertise and experience.
Each week we will select one of our favourite images from the group and post it on the home page of this website. Could be a stunning sunset, an enchanting new born foal, or perhaps a breathtaking scene that one of our members has been kind enough to show the group.
Everyone is welcome to join, we do have a few rules such as no advertising, being kind and positive, and some guidance about the purpose of the group in the ‘About’ section.
