One of the most loved sights on Dartmoor is that of a herd of semi-wild ponies. There are herds of pedigree Dartmoor ponies, lots of Dartmoor hill ponies and Shetland ponies, all doing there bit to graze the moor.Easter is the perfect time to enjoy watching them, as the tiny foals are finding their feet and enjoying mad games racing around with each other!
There are lots of events happening over the Easter period too, Buckfast Abbey have a super programme of Family Drop-ins happening for the Under 14s and some great offers on in The Grange Restaurant too!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to try horse-riding on the moor? There are several wonderful Riding Stables on the moor, where you can explore Dartmoor from the back of a sure-footed and well trained horse or pony.
South Devon Railway is celebrating 50 years of steaming through the Dart Valley! They have activities and events going on all through the week of 6-14 April. More details HERE
Have you dusted off your bike to go cycling yet this year? There are miles and miles of tracks you can use throughout the National Park, places where you can hire a bike, specialist cycle routes and electric bike tours!
You can bring your dog with you, there are lots of Dog-Friendly Accommodation where your four-legged friends will be welcome. Even mealtimes can be enjoyed without your dog being banned to the car, have a look at Dog-Friendly places to eat. Some will allow your dog inside, some ask that you use the garden tables, but as dog owners ourselves we can assure you it’s easy to eat out with your dog.
