The Grounding Retreat launches at ANRÁN, a private country estate near Ashburton, from 27–30 October.
It’s been created by Jenny Thompson and Camille van Hoegaerden, who actually work with and tend ANRÁN’s landscape. Guests spend time in the kitchen garden harvesting autumn produce that’ll be served later that day; private chef Hannah Thomas, who trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School and later worked at The Ethicurean, creates the menus. There are seasonal produce workshops, floral tablescaping, a guided Dartmoor wander, wood-fired hot tub and sauna, fireside suppers, stargazing and a final harvest feast.
Everything is optional, with time deliberately left for guests simply to read, bathe or sit by the fire. The core idea is four days living on the land with no plans to make and nobody else to look after.
There are only 15 places, each guest staying individually in a high-spec ensuite room across ANRÁN’s restored Manor House and historic courtyard barns. The full three-night retreat costs £1,595 per person, including all meals and activities.
